The weird new mouse seems to be helping. It has a little bit of a learning curve — the main buttons act like a regular mouse, but it has extra buttons that I will need to program, once I get acclimated to the new angle. It feels a little odd to have it tilted sideways. My hand still hurts, but it’s not nearly as intense as it was yesterday.

I’ve ordered a thumb compression sleeve for sleeping as well as a percussion massage therapy gun (which might also help with my occipital migraines), and ibuprofen helps knock out the worst of the ache.

I got two surprise packages in the post today. The first was a giant plushie macaw that’s adorable and cuddly and I will sleep with it instead of my deflated bed pillow to support my neck and back. The other was my 2022 GISH swag box for participating in the world’s largest scavenger hunt for charity. It included a coffee table book of all the best and silliest entries, a wall flag signed by Misha Collins, a keychain, a mascot plushie, and other assorted pins and charms.

Silly things make me happy.

My husband had a late meeting upstairs in the office, so the birds and I played downstairs in the living room. Charlie kept trying to fly to the TV because he saw people on the screen that looked like they needed a bird on their shoulders. He was confused that he couldn’t land on them. Kiki got a new ball for her cage because her last one split in half. Houdini concentrated on pulling strips of paper out of his foraging box. We had a happy birdie evening.

Time for rest now.
