Ukraine War: Day 855

Hamas-Israel War: Day 262

Mass shootings in the USA in 2024: 253

I had a very productive day and resolved a whole bunch of PIA issues that have been hanging out unfinished and giving me work nightmares.

Meanwhile, our landlord sent an electrician to check the breaker for the AC system that has been making a very alarming buzzing noise whenever the air-con was running. He was here for all of ten minutes. He took the breaker box apart and discovered the busbar was loose and arcing, which can be a fire danger if not addressed.

After tightening everything and re-inserting the circuit breaker, he had me turn on the AC. Lo and behold, no buzzing. He checked all of the other breakers, put everything back together, and waited until the AC went through a full off/on cycle to make sure it was solid. I sent him off and told him I hoped the rest of his day was that easy. He told me that now that it’s not wasting electricity and creating heat in the breaker box, our AC should be more efficient. So far, so good.

Charlie is having another hormonal surge and has been destroying toys and perches at an alarming rate. I sweep toy parts up daily, and his neck is covered in thick, pointy, itchy pinfeathers, but when we try and scritch them, he gets mad and bites. Then he gets all barfy and tries to regurgitate and mate with our hands. It must be confusing to be a pubescent parrot.

All the birds have been covered for bed. One last cocktail, clean the kitchen after dinner, and to bed for the humans.
