Finally, some satisfaction for the work email issues I’ve been suffering all week! They doubled my memory availability on the Exchange servers, which means I’m probably okay for the next three years or so, as long as I’m diligent about archiving and deleting unnecessary chit-chat emails.

I had to force-quit the Apple Mail app on my work laptop and then restart it four or five times for the mail program to re-initialize. Then I had to re-install the Exchange account into the an Apple Mail program. Twice. For the next five or six hours, I watched the activity monitor go through multiple fits and starts while it re-downloaded the 105,000+ or so emails back into the program, and then another several hours while it re-indexed everything.

Emails sent from the Apple Mail program still aren’t registering in the web based Outlook mail client, but at least I can find them in the Apple Mail app. I logged out of the Outlook web client late in the afternoon and started using the Apple Mail app exclusively at about 3pm. I got more done between 3 and 5pm than I did in the last 4 days.

While all of this was happening, I did two loads of laundry and watched over Kiki. She’s doing better after her new egg yesterday, but she’s still hesitant to have flight play. We encouraged her to have three 2–3 foot flights from the top of her cage, but then she decidedly refused to fly any more, and I had to carry her back to her cage for pre-bedtime treats on a handheld perch. Poor girl, I had to give her calcium today because of the eggs, and that meant she didn’t get her arthritis pain formula. She’s old and sore and knows her physical limitations.

We listen to her when she says she’s had enough for the day. I should be as smart as she is.
